Daily wager dies of electrocution in Arnia

JAMMU, Jan 11: A daily wager of the Power Development Department (PDD) lost his life after suffering an electric shock while repairing a broken power line in the Arnia area here today.
The deceased individual has been identified as Fateh Chand, son of Jagar Singh, a resident of Shivu Chak, Arnia.
According to local sources, the incident occurred when Fateh Chand was carrying out repair work on a transformer.
He reportedly came into contact with a live wire and was electrocuted on the spot.
According to sources, the body of the deceased remained lying on the transformer for nearly four hours after the incident, creating panic and fear among residents of the area.
Soon after the incident, locals informed the Power Development Department and the police.
Accordingly, a police team reached the spot and started investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, family members of the deceased staged a protest and raised slogans against the Power Development Department, alleging negligence.
They demanded a fair investigation into the matter to punish the erring officials, if any.
