Cyber Police recover Rs 63 lakh in Shopian

SRINAGAR, Dec 29: Cyber Police Shopian recovered and restored Rs 63.22 lakh to victims of various cyber fraud cases during 2025.
Officials said that the recovery was made after completing all prescribed legal and judicial formalities.
“The recovery was achieved through prompt action and professional investigation by the Cyber Police Station Shopian,” they added.
During the period, the police station received complaints related to UPI-based frauds, social media scams, fake loan applications, OTP misuse, and other forms of online financial fraud.
Upon receipt of complaints, immediate action was taken, and investigations were conducted using technical and digital tools.
Owing to timely intervention and effective coordination with banks and financial institutions, suspicious transactions were frozen at critical stages, preventing further financial losses and facilitating the recovery of defrauded amounts, officials said.
