Cyber Cell prevents Rs 1.78 lakh fraud

JAMMU, May 3: The Cyber Cell of Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed they have prevented a cyber fraud worth Rs 1.78 lakh.
A Cyber Cell official said that one person registered a complaint, claiming therein that he was cheated by someone who asked him to invest Rs 1.78 lakh in a company after giving him some monetary benefits for reviewing a platform online.
Quoting the complainant, he further said that when the victim invested, he was cheated of his hard-earned money as fraudster blocked his number after receiving the amount online.
Acting on the written complaint, the Cyber Cell official said that it acted swiftly and put on hold full amount of Rs 1.78 lakh.
Further investigation into the case is underway, he said.
