JAMMU, Apr 1: The Cyber Cell of Jammu and Kashmir Police in Jammu district claimed to have successfully recovered Rs 8,44,455 from fraudsters involved in various online scams.
As per a statement, the recovery followed investigations into multiple complaints of online fraud, where victims were deceived through different tactics related to online trading and investments.
In some cases, fraudsters tricked victims by claiming money had been mistakenly transferred to their accounts and asked for refunds, the statement said.
In others, it said, the victims were lured into fake investment schemes through hotel and restaurant rating requests on Telegram groups.
The victims, including Ankit Kumar, Dushyant Kouahik, Shabnam Gupta, Raja Muhammad Umar, Rasneev Raina, and Mohammad Jawat, approached the Cyber Cell after being cheated, the statement said.
Taking quick action, it said, the Cyber Cell team conducted thorough investigations and managed to recover the full amount from the fraudsters, showcasing their professional expertise and dedication.
