Curfew continues in Bhaderwah, relaxed in Kishtwar

JAMMU, June 14: Day curfew has been lifted in Kishtwar from tomorrow while today it was relaxed for five hours. However, curfew continued in Bhaderwah town of Doda district for sixth consecutive day today without any relaxation even as the administration detained nine persons for provocative slogans.

Day curfew was today relaxed in Kishtwar town from 1.30 pm to 6.30 pm. The civil and police administration held a meeting of the prominent citizens and organizations in which representatives of both communities called for maintenance of peace and brotherhood.
In view of this, the administration decided to lift day curfew from Kishtwar tomorrow. However, night curfew will continue as a precautionary measure.
In Bhaderwah town of Doda district, curfew continued without any relaxation for sixth day today.
Authorities today detained nine persons for raising provocative slogans in Bhaderwah last Thursday.
One accused who was instrumental in delivering highly inflammatory speech has already been arrested by police.
Broadband and mobile internet services, however, remained shut in Doda and Kishtwar districts.
Trouble erupted in Bhaderwah on Thursday evening after provocative speeches from a religious place and Social Media posts on the remarks of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma.
