Curbing illegal immigration: SSP meets hoteliers, accommodation providers

RAMBAN, Sept 27: To strengthen the monitoring of foreign nationals and prevent illegal immigration, SSP Ramban, Arun Gupta here today convened a meeting with hoteliers, hostel and PG owners and other lodging service providers to raise awareness about mandatory filing of Form-C/Form-S under Foreigners Act, 1946, which requires all accommodation providers to report details of foreign guests staying in their premises.
During meeting, SSP Gupta emphasized that Form-C must be submitted online within 24 hours of a foreign national’s check-in.
“This is a legal requirement under Paragraph 7 of the Act. The form must be submitted through the official Government portals indianfrro.gov.in or boi.gov.in,” he maintained adding that non-compliance could result in imprisonment up to five years and a monetary fine as per Section 14 of the Act.
The SSP called for strict adherence to these provisions by all hospitality service providers.
“The filing requirement applies to all type of accommodation providers including hotels, guest houses, hostels, hospitals, universities and even private residences that offer lodging to foreign nationals. It also applies regardless of the visa type – whether tourist, business, employment, medical or others,” he informed.
Accommodation providers were also directed to maintain a visitor register recording accurate arrival and departure details of each foreign guest. The Form-C must include the guest’s passport and visa information, a photograph, purpose of visit, Indian reference contact details and travel itinerary.
Further, the SSP urged providers to immediately report any suspicious activity or irregularity involving foreign nationals to the Police Control Room, Ramban.
The hoteliers and property owners assured full cooperation with Police.
