JAMMU, Feb 14: Students of the Integrated B.Sc, M.Sc Biotechnology programme (Session 2025-26) from Centre for Molecular Biology, Central University of Jammu, actively participated in the JK Science Congress 2025 held at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu, in collaboration with the J&K Science, Technology and Innovation Council.
Two groups of first-semester students presented their research topics before judges and participants. Group 1, “The Genome Nexus,” included Ananya Salathia, Dipankar Pradhan, Devansh Gupta, Prabhdeep Kour, Diti Gupta, Harshit Jamwal, Priyanshu Kumar and Haritika Verma, who presented on Drosophila melanogaster – The Fruit Fly that Revolutionized Genetics, highlighting its contribution from the experiments of Thomas Hunt Morgan to modern genetic studies.
Group 2 comprised Sunandi Sadotra, Tanishk Kashyap, Suhani Sambyal, Arushi Thakur, Hanzla Nazeer, Kunal Joshi, Priyanshu Sharma and Rijul Sharma, who presented on Arabidopsis thaliana – A Model Plant in Genetics and Molecular Biology.
Director Dr Narendra K Bairwa, Dean Prof Sunil Dhar and Vice Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Jain congratulated the students and appreciated their academic achievement.
