CUJ shines in Times Higher Education Impact Rankings

JAMMU, June 25: The Central University of Jammu has made a significant mark by featuring in the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025.
For the first time, the Central University of Jammu has been ranked among the top 401-600 universities globally, showcasing its commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Impact Rankings evaluates universities worldwide for their societal contributions across 17 SDGs, reflecting how institutions are working to address global challenges through research, outreach and teaching.
The Central University of Jammu has demonstrated strong performance in several key areas, particularly in Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG7), ranking 401-600, which recognizes the University’s initiatives in sustainable infrastructure. In the SDG, a total of 87 Indian Institutions/Universities are listed in Affordable and Clean Energy, where the Central University of Jammu achieved a ranking of 37 among all the top 87 Indian institutions/universities, scoring 45.7-52.6. The Central University of Jammu is among the top Indian Central Universities in this SDG, followed by JNU, Delhi, and the University of Hyderabad. It is the 1st and among the Top Central Universities established under the Central University Act 2009 in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings to achieve band rank 401-600th Globally in individual SDGs.
Notably, the University continues to excel in research, maintaining a strong presence in the Nature Index 2025 and reaching a 28th rank in the IIRF in 2025, a testament to its world-class scholarly output.
Speaking on this milestone, CUJ Vice-Chancellor Prof Sanjeev Jain said, “It reflects our efforts to address global challenges through research, outreach, and teaching. The Central University of Jammu inclusion in the 2025 THE Impact Rankings is a demonstration of its ongoing transformation into a leading institution that excels not only in academics and research but is also committed to a better world.
It is the first time the University has been ranked among the top 401-600th globally in specific parameters, underscoring its commitment to the United Nations’ SDGs.
