JAMMU, Nov 2: A national level seminar was conducted today at Central University of Jammu for commemorating the birthday of former President of India, Dr APJ Kalam.
A wide number of students participated enthusiastically in the seminar. As many as 20 presentations were held covering a range of themes such as role of youth in nation building through education, creativity in student life, relevance of applied learning, exploring new areas of education, issues in research in higher education and applied research and contribution to the society.
The chief guest for the occasion was Prof R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor Jammu University. In his keynote, Prof R D Sharma stressed upon the need to build a creative culture rather than building a culture of protest. In addition he also stressed upon the need to enhance examination and admission systems on the whole.
The occasion was also graced by Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu and Prof Lokesh Verma, Academic Co-ordinator, CJU.
Prof Ashok Aima mentioned that apart from being an accomplished scientist and an academician, Dr Kalam’s life is an example for everyone to live a life of simplicity and humbleness.
The panelists of the sessions were; Dr Pankaj Mehta , Dr Govind Inakhiya, Mohd Uzair and Dr J N Baliya. The dignitaries later distributed the prizes among the winning participants.
The convener of the seminar was Dr Pavinder Singh while Dr Bharti Gupta was organising secretary and coordinator of the event. The seminar was conducted by Shweta Yadav.
