KATHUA, Mar 3: World Wildlife Day 2026 was today celebrated by the Central University of Jammu in collaboration with the Wildlife Division Kathua.
On the occasion about 200 students of life sciences department participated in the event.
Dr Vinita Sharma Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology welcomes all the dignities and students, who gathered during the event.
She briefed the gathering regarding motto of celebration of World Wildlife Day for the Conservation of CITES species.
Prof (Dr) Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu, was the chief guest on occasion inspected display stall of Wildlife Division and appreciate the Department of Wildlife Protection to using Modern tool and Technology to mitigate Human Wildlife Conflicts.
He also appreciated the efforts of Department of Wildlife Protection regarding Conservation and Protection of Wild Flora and Fuana involving students in Wildlife Conservation and passion for wildlife will help in Management of Wildlife in Near Future.
Vijay Kumar, wildlife warden, Kathua gave an overview on various activities done wildlife department such as habitual improvement, soil and moisture works, monitoring of wildlife by using camera trap techniques, protection and law enforcements on wildlife protection.
As a guest lecture, Om Parkash (Retd PCCF) thorough his Power point presentation briefed about this year Theme of World Wildlife Day, Medicinal and Aromatic Plants, Conserving Health, Heritage and Livelihoods.
Prof (Dr) Sudhir Dhar, Dean Life Science appreciated the efforts of Department of Wildlife for organizing such event in University Campus
The function was attended by Ashok Kalsi, DFO Social Forestry Kathua, Prof Swarkar Sharma of Department of Zoology and Dr Narendra Kumar, Director Centre for Molecular Biology.
Dr Ashok Kumar Yadav presented formal vote of thanks.
