CTF delegation meets Commissioner FDAJK, discusses concerns of trader community

JAMMU, Aug 13: A delegation of the Chamber of Traders Federation (CTF), Jammu, led by its president, Neeraj Anand, today called on Smita Sethi, Commissioner, Food and Drugs Administration Jammu & Kashmir (FDAJK), to discuss various issues concerning the trading community, particularly those related to the food and drugs sector.
Neeraj Anand while welcoming the recent actions of the Department in checking dealers dealing in frozen items, which has helped curb the circulation of substandard goods, stressed the urgent need to also address the menace of synthetic cheese and paneer in the market.
Highlighting the importance of supporting local enterprises, Anand proposed that a proper policy be framed to promote and upgrade frozen storage facilities in the region. He underlined that such measures would strengthen compliance without placing undue burden on genuine business operators, and would contribute to greater transparency, ease of doing business. He also demanded regular awareness camps for stakeholder consultations.
The Commissioner acknowledged the concerns raised by the Federation and reiterated the department’s commitment to a fair, transparent, and cooperative enforcement regime. She assured that the department seeks to balance consumer protection by taking all stakeholders in to confidence because it’s the collective responsibility of everyone to ensure the quality products to the end consumer.
She further informed that the department is actively working to simplify procedures as part of the Ease of Doing Business. These initiatives aim to foster mutual trust, encourage voluntary compliance, and enhance stakeholder awareness of departmental provisions.
Sethi also urged traders/consumers to utilize the department’s Toll-Free Helpline 104 for lodging any complaint to check unscrupulous elements in the society.
