SRINAGAR, Oct 23: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLA Pulwama, Waheed Ur Rehman Parra, today demanded that the Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC) report on reservation be made public, asserting that it is not a “secret” document.
Speaking to reporters after attending the first sitting of the Legislative Assembly session here, Parra said that if required, the party would join students’ protests to press for the issue.

“Reservation is an issue concerning students and their future. It is not a confidential document and should be tabled in the Assembly and made public,” he said.
Parra said that the best of the youth should get jobs and opportunities, while those from reserved categories should receive their due share as per their population.
“Everyone is concerned about reservations, and what is happening amounts to the complete erasure of merit,” he added.
On his expectations from the ongoing Assembly session, Parra said there was a “deficit in governance” in Kashmir which must be discussed in the House, along with the promises made to the people of J&K by the NC-led Government.
“Apart from that, the issues faced by the people must be addressed. The pace of development is slow, which should also be discussed,” he said.
Parra said the PDP has moved a bill to ensure land security for the people of J&K, urging the National Conference (NC) to support its passage since the party holds a majority in the House.
“We want the NC to support it so that there is land security. Our bills have been listed, and all of us have fought elections in the name of protecting land rights,” he said, adding that the PDP would support the NC during the Rajya Sabha elections only if it supports and passes these bills.
He further said that the PDP has brought another resolution, now dropped, to hand over religious institutions to the Muttahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) and to keep these places away from politics, especially after the Dargah Hazratbal incident.
“We want Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir to be the custodian and the council to take over the matters of the religious institutions. These institutions do not need political involvement and must be kept away from politics,” Parra said.
