CS reviews flood relief measures

JAMMU, Dec 10: Chief Secretary, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey, today received brief on the latest status of relief and rehabilitation undertaken by the Government for the flood affected people of Jammu Division from Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and via video conferencing from Deputy Commissioners of Jammu Division.
Charing the weekly review meeting here, Chief Secretary asked Deputy Commissioners to ensure that all families whose houses were fully damaged are provided suitable shelter facilities. He asked R&B Department to complete the construction of remaining pre-fab structures at the earliest so that all affected family are provided shelter.
Mr. Khandey also directed that those families who choose to stay in rented accommodations be provided rent for a period of four months to the tune of Rs 5000, Rs 3500 and Rs 2000, keeping in view the area of residence like city, town and village respectively.
Meanwhile, Divisional Commissioner informed that ex-gratia announced by the Government in favour of all those families whose next of kin lost their lives due to September floods has been handed over to the affected people. The ex-gratia package of Rs 5 lakh disbursed to affected families includes Rs 1.5 lakh from SDRF, Rs 2 lakh from Prime Minister’s Relief Fund and Rs. 1.5 lakh from Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund.
Principal Secretary Planning & Development B.R. Sharma, Principal Secretary Finance, B.B. Vyas, Principal Secretary PDD, A. K. Mehta, and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
