NEW DELHI, Jan 1: Crude oil futures prices rose by 0.18 per cent to Rs 5,024 per barrel today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in January gained Rs 9, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 5,024 per barrel, with a business turnover of 4,744 lots.
The oil for February delivery moved up by Rs 9, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 5,069 per barrel, with a business volume of 469 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a firming trend in Asia after US politicians signalled a last-minute deal to avoid the economy-crunching fiscal cliff.
Meanwhile, crude oil for February delivery advanced by USD 1.02 to USD 91.82 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. (PTI)
