Crude oil futures up on overseas cues

NEW DELHI, Oct 21:  Crude oil futures prices rose 0.12 per cent to Rs 5,062 per barrel today as speculators created positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in November gained Rs 6, or 0.12 per cent, to Rs 5,062 per barrel, with a business turnover of 2,048 lots.
The oil for the December delivery moved up by Rs 4, or 0.08 per cent, to Rs 5,065 per barrel, with a business volume of 41 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a firming trend in Asian trade buoyed by strong industrial production data from China, the world’s top energy consuming nation.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude prices for November delivery advanced 17 cents to USD 82.88 and Brent crude for December added four cents to USD 84.44 a barrel in late-morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange. (PTI)
