According to a police officer, a case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Gangyal in connection with the attack, while a vehicle used in the attack has also been seized, with its owner also arrested.
Some suspects have also been detained while a manhunt has been launched to arrest the assailants, he said.
The police officer claimed the incident stemmed from an old rivalry between two groups as both the youth who were attacked today are also history-sheeters.
According to him, Paramjeet Singh, who sustained injuries in the attack, has been facing 9 FIRs while his pillion rider and accomplice, Vikramjit Singh, 19 FIRs.
“And both the criminals came out of prison recently on April 1, 2025, after completing their PSA term,” he said.
The police officer said that prima facie, it appears that the motive of the attack was only to create fear amongst the youth attacked and not to harm them.
He, however, said that further investigations are underway.
