JAMMU, July 14: Police have apprehended a suspected criminal with a sharp weapon in RS Pura area here.
A police official said during routine naka checking at Daljit Chowk, RS Pura on July 14, a team of Police Station RS Pura, led by PSI Saddam Bashir along with PSI Affan Nazir, Head Constables Kali Charan, Mushtaq Ahmed, SPO Sourab Sharma and follower Ashok Kumar, intercepted an auto-rickshaw (JK02DB-9346) coming from Baspur side towards RS Pura.
On checking of the vehicle, he said a passenger identified as Ashwani Kumar of Abdullian, Tehsil Suchetgarh, District Jammu was found carrying a sharp weapon (Toka) concealed in the back of his pant.
After the accused failed to provide any valid reason for carrying the weapon, he was arrested and booked in case FIR number 145/2025 under section 4/25 of the Arms Act registered at Police Station RS Pura and further investigation started, added the police official.
