JAMMU, Jan 28: Crime Branch today produced challan against Nanaji Koul alias Rahul Koul, son of Sham Lal Koul of New Delhi and Rajnath Koul, the then Assistant Engineer Relief Organization, Jammu for cheating and obtaining migrant relief by deceit/wrongful means.
According to the challan, a complaint was received at Crime Branch Police Station Jammu mentioning that Nana Ji Koul, who had migrated to Delhi prior to the inception of militancy, had managed a fake ration card of his non-existing family by deceit/wrongful means with the connivance of officials of Relief Organization, Jammu.
Accordingly, a preliminary verification was initiated and statement of witnesses acquainted with the facts of the case were recorded under Section 161 CrPC. The bank records were also obtained and signatures of suspects were sent to FSL for expert opinion. The date of birth certificate produced by the accused Nana Ji Koul regarding birth of his son was verified from Jammu Municipal Corporation and found fake.
During further course of investigation, it transpired that Nana Ji Koul had migrated to Delhi much before the eruption of militancy whereas his father along with his mother had come to Jammu in the wake of militancy and registered themselves as migrants with Relief Organization, Jammu. In the year 1999, Nana Ji Koul came to Jammu and managed to include fraudulently his non existing family consisting of wife, son and daughter in his father’s ration card by producing fake and false documents like date of birth certificate and an affidavit on behalf of his father.
In this way, accused Nana Ji Koul managed to get cash relief worth Rs 1,02,000 and ration worth Rs 22960 (Total Rs 1,24,960) by wrongful means.
