Create scientific temperament amongst students: Lone

SRINAGAR, June 12: Stressing the need to create scientific temperament among the students of the State, the Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone today said that development and advancement of higher education system in the State is among top priorities of present Government.
He said a conducive environment for fruitful research is being made in colleges and universities, adding various measures have been taken for providing quality and innovative education to the students to enrich their knowledge so that they can prove their competence at national and global level competitions.
He was addressing valedictory function of 2-day National Seminar on “Towards New Horizons with Interplay between Physics & Computer Sciences” held at Amar Singh College.
Mr. Lone stressed upon scientists to development theoretical knowledge with practical orientation. He asked them to practically implement the knowledge for overall betterment of the society.
While complimenting the college administration for organizing such an event, the Minister emphasized for creation of good work culture in the institutions of higher learning in the State and asked to hold such seminars in future also.
Vice-chancellor, Kashmir University A. M. Shah, Vice chancellor Islamic University of Science & Technology, Prof A R Trag, Secretary, Higher Education Department. Sheikh Mushtaq Ahmad, Director Colleges, Dr. Tariq Ahmad Kawoosa, Director University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) Kurekshetra University, Prof. Dinesh Kumar and Principal A.S College Prof. Zahoor Ahmad Chatt were present on the occasion. The seminar was also attended by various research scholars, scientists and over hundred delegates coming from various institutions from within and outside the State.
Speaking in the Seminar, VC Kashmir University stressed for development of close coordination between Colleges and the Universities for effectiveness of higher education in the State.
VC IUST, dwelt on various dimensions of science and technology and stressed upon the participants to percolate down their research based knowledge to the students.
Secretary Higher Education Department also threw light on the topic and underscored the need of developing scientific spirit and scientific practices among students and scholars.
