Samba, June 21: Heavy rain in the Samba district triggered a flood-like situation late last night, causing rivers and streams to overflow.
The Basantar River witnessed a sudden surge in water levels, leading to the partial submergence of low-lying areas.
During the downpour, a crane belonging to a construction company engaged in widening the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway near the Chichi Mata Temple was swept away by the strong river current.

Meanwhile, the Sumb area also experienced waterlogging, with rainwater accumulating on several roads, hampering the movement of locals.
Residents have urged the administration to construct proper drainage systems along roadsides to prevent such inconvenience in the future.
