Crackdown on Terror Ecosystem

Another dismissal of three Government employees-an active police constable, a teacher, and a junior assistant-for their links with proscribed terror outfits LeT and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen is a stark reminder of the administration’s unwavering resolve to uproot terrorism and its ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir. This action carried out under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution, sends a crystal-clear message: there is zero tolerance for terror sympathisers, even if they are within Government institutions. These terminations are not isolated cases but part of a wider crackdown that has so far led to the dismissal of over 75 Government employees found involved in anti-national activities. The decision to bypass formal enquiries in the interest of national security underscores the gravity of their betrayal and the urgency with which the administration is acting. The Lt Governor’s administration has launched a slew of well-coordinated measures to systematically dismantle the terror infrastructure. The focus has not only been on eliminating terrorists but also on neutralising their OGWs, handlers, and sympathisers embedded within key institutions. Mandatory police verification for Government recruitment, tightened monitoring, and inter-agency coordination have significantly reduced the risk of internal sabotage and infiltration.
The crackdown is not limited to punitive actions alone-it is part of a comprehensive strategy aimed at ending local support for the separatist movement. The Government has succeeded in severing the lifeline of terrorism-public sympathy, logistical support, and ideological camouflage. With the fading of the separatists’ hartal calendars and the virtual disappearance of stone-pelting incidents, the Union Territory is now experiencing a semblance of normalcy unseen in decades. Public spaces are vibrant, schools function without fear, and tourism is returning to the Valley. The message is unmistakable: anyone who attempts to disrupt communal harmony or peace will encounter severe consequences. There is no space in governance or society for those who betray the nation under the guise of service. This iron-willed governance has ensured that peace is no longer a distant dream but an emerging reality. The Government must continue this momentum, ensuring that public institutions remain sanctuaries of trust and development-not breeding grounds for separatism.
