Crackdown on illegal mining, several vehicles seized

JAMMU, June 9: Continuing its intensified drive against illegal mining, Jammu Police (South Zone) carried out targeted enforcement operations across various locations under the overall supervision of SSP Jammu, Joginder Singh and direct oversight of SP City South, Ajay Sharma, along with SDPO South, Sunil Singh Jasrotia.
During the crackdown, Police Station Satwari seized a JCB machine found illegally extracting minor minerals from the River Tawi. The machinery was taken into custody and shifted to the police station, while the District Mineral Officer (DMO), Jammu, was informed for necessary legal proceedings. In a parallel action, Police Post Chatha impounded a tractor-trolley involved in the unauthorized transportation of mining material, with the DMO also notified in this case.
Additionally, in a sustained effort to curb traffic violations, the police seized six vehicles and issued seven challans under the Motor Vehicles Act.
