Srinagar, Sept 6: The Jammu and Kashmir Committee of Communist Party of India (Marxist) today extended support to September 7 call by Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA) and castigated Government for failing to rehabilitate flood victims.
Taking serious cognizance of tardy post flood rehabilitation process in the State, the CPI (M) said that even after one year has passed but both Central and the State Governments have failed to rehabilitate and compensate the flood victims.
The CPI (M) said: “much-needed rehabilitation of flood hit people seems to have been deleted from the priorities of the government and same is the case with other sectors of socio-economic development of the State.”
“The people of Kashmir who witnessed huge devastation and deaths during last year floods are still awaiting a rehabilitation package while as the BJP led Central Government is concerned and focusing on its political gains in states heading for elections. This is height of discrimination and double standards,” the CPI (M) said.
