JAMMU, Feb 21: Demanding early restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, Communist Party of India (J&K) today organised a strong protest demonstration near Press Club Jammu.

A number of CPI workers gathered outside Press Club Jammu and raised slogans in favour of the restoration of Statehood to J&K. They were carrying placards and banners with slogans.
While addressing the gathering, CPI State Secretary G M Mizrab said that a dual power structure is not acceptable to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
“People of Jammu and Kashmir had come out in large numbers to vote for a democratic Government. But it is rather unfortunate that the Central dispensation is not allowing the elected Government to function smoothly,” he said and added that people of Jammu and Kashmir have been suffering terribly since 2019 due to a protracted bureaucratic rule.
Com Rakesh Sharma, National Council member CPI, urged the Central Government to restore the Statehood forthwith. District Secretary Kursheed Ahmad Bhat, while addressing the demonstration, said that Statehood is the pressing need of Jammu and Kashmir.
Prominent among those who participated in the protest, included youth leader Ishfaq Ahamd Sheikh, Gulzar Ahmad, Assistant Secretary CPI, Council members, G M Bhat, Bashir Ahmad, Mohammad Maqbool, Subash Mehta , Ashwani Kapoor, Naresh Munshi, Sanjay Kotwal, Sukh Dev, Junaid, Suhail and others.
