JAMMU, Sept 11: All J&K Central Paramilitary Forces Welfare Association (CPFWA) today staged a sit-in protest here at Hari Singh Park against discrimination of the Central Government towards ex-personnel of Paramilitary forces on OROP issue.
A large number of ex-servicemen of Paramilitary Forces under the leadership of association president, Kartar Chand, assembled this morning here at Hari Singh Park and staged a protest demanding the benefits of OROP at par with defence forces.
Addressing the protesting ex-servicemen, Kartar Chand said that the association on the request of BJP boycotted all the parties and played a major role in forming present BJP Government at the Centre and it is now their turn to keep their (Government’s) promise of redressing the grievances and problems of ex-paramilitary personnel.
Rejecting the plea of Defence Minister that the personnel of defence forces are retired at very young age while the personnel serving in Paramilitary Forces retire at the age of 60 years, Chand said that Government is dividing the soldiers of Country for their petty interests and the association will never bear this and oppose with tooth and nail this discrimination, as all paramilitary forces whether it is BSF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB or CISF, are also serving the Country with full dedication.
“Therefore we request the Government to stop doing discrimination in soldiers and extend the benefit of OROP at par with defence forces to Central Paramilitary Forces also, he added.
