Srinagar, Dec 2: A court in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district today warned an absconding hardline Hurriyat leader of ‘coercive action’ if he didn’t appear before it on December 28.
Judicial Magistrate, Arvind Sharma, concluded that the warrants against Abdul Gani Bhat alias Gani Guroo, resident of Baba Raza locality of Sopore, accused under section 25 of Police Act were issued and the said warrants returned unexecuted.
“The statement of the concerned Taamili reveals that the accused has gone underground and his arrest in normal means is not possible in near future as he is absconding in order to avoid the process of law,” the court said.
The court directed the accused Hurriyat leader, who has been actively organizing anti-India protests, to remain present before the court of law on December 28  or face coercive action if he continues to skip the court.
“The proclamation is issued against the accused under section 87 Cr.P.C with direction to appear before this court on next date of hearing at 10:30 AM to explain why not the proceedings under Section 88 of Cr.P.C be initiated against him under law. Failing which further coercive action will be taken against the accused under law,” said the court.
