JAMMU, July 31: A local court today granted six-day police remand of Azan Hameed Gazi, a terror associate, who was arrested by Nagrota Police.
The accused, a resident of Hilalabad Qamarwari, Srinagar, was produced before the court in connection with FIR No. 170/2025 under Section 3/25 of the Arms Act registered at Police Station Nagrota.
According to the police, the accused identified as Azan Hameed Gazi, son of Abdul Hameed Gazi of Hilalabad, Qamarwari, Srinagar, was intercepted while travelling from Jammu towards Srinagar in a Toyota Etios (Registration Number HR38Z/2066). During the search of the vehicle, police personnel recovered three pistols, three empty magazines, eight live cartridges and two empty cartridges from a handbag concealed under the co-driver’s seat.
The accused was brought before the court by PSI Neeraj Parihar from Police Station Nagrota, who submitted a CD file outlining the investigation details.
The court noted, “the investigation is still ongoing and has not been concluded”. Considering the circumstances, the court accepted the police’s application and granted remand till August 4, 2025.
The court also directed the Investigating Officer to ensure that the accused is provided legal aid and counsel. Furthermore, necessary medical assistance should be given on a need basis during the remand period.
