JAMMU, May 13: Independent Councillors of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) have demanded free ration and other essential commodities for the outside labourers and three month free ration to all Ration Card holders of J&K along with some financial help.
In a press conference here today Independent Councillors claimed that the government is ignoring elected representatives and JMC has failed to provide ration to the needy families.
“All families of migratory labourers have not received ration. The auto drivers, petty vendors etc mostly live hand to mouth and we request to the LG administration to provide three months free of cost ration to these people and waive off their water and electricity bills for the lockdown period,” the Independent Councillors told reporters.
They also demanded increase of sanitization process by the JMC keeping in view the increase of COVID-19 cases.
The demand of withdrawal of FIR lodged against Purnima Sharma, Deputy Mayor was also demanded.
The Independent Councillors claimed that there is shortage of Safai Karamcharis, equipments and facilities for Safai Karamcharis in JMC.
Sham Lal Basson, Ashok Singh Manhas, Vijay Choudhary, Inder Singh Sudan, Amit Kumar Gupta, Prof. Yudhvir Singh, S. Sucha Singh, Jagdish Kumar Sharma, Rani Devi, Anita Sharma, Anu Bali, Sandhya Gupta, Ghar Singh and Shamma Akhtar were also present in the press conference.
