Cops rescue 11 bovines, 2 smugglers held

DODA, Aug 2: Police here today rescued 11 bovines from the clutches of smugglers in Nalthi and Bhalla areas.
Official sources informed that during a Naka checking at Nalthi, three individuals were found transporting eight bovine animals towards Bhaderwah on foot without arranging any fodder and water for them and they were ruthlessly beating the animals.
Cops deployed at Naka apprehended them and they failed to produce any lawful authorization for transporting the bovines.
One of the smugglers was identified as Asif Ali, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Botla, Bhaderwah and he was arrested on the spot.
Other two smugglers Raj Mohd, son of Mohd Shareef and Mohd Rafiq, son of Roshan Din, both resident of Thanalla, Bhaderwah fled on seeing the cops.
Meanwhile, at a Naka checking in Bhalla, cops intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK06-5478 and stopped it for checking. During checking, cops found three bovine animals tied with a rope without any arrangement of food and water.
The accused driver was identified as Fareed Ahmed, son of Liyakat Ali, resident of Cheka Driana, Tehsil Bhalla, Doda and he failed to produce any document regarding transportation of these bovines.
He was arrested on the spot.
Accordingly, cognizance was taken and FIRs with nos. 110/2025 and 111/2025 U/S 223 BNS and 11 PC Act were registered in this regard at Police Station Bhaderwah and investigations started.
