RAMBAN, Apr 8: Police here today under the supervision of SSP Ramban, Anuj Kumar arrested four bovine smugglers and rescued 70 bovines besides seizing four vehicles involved in the crime.
Cops from Police Post Patnitop and Police Station Batote headed by SHO Batote while checking vehicles intercepted two vehicles bearing registration number JK19-2658 and Temp. No. 6493.
During checking of these vehicles 23 bovines were found laden inside in cruel manner which were being transported illegally.
Two persons Parviz Ahmed, son of Maroof Ahmed, resident of Kunfer Chanderkote and Tousif Ahmed, son of Mohd Arif, resident of Maitra Ramban were arrested on the spot from the vehicles.
Meanwhile, cops from Police Station Ramban headed by SHO Ramban intercepted two vehicles bearing registration numbers JK14E 5295 and JK02DG 0664 and during checking of these found 47 bovines laden inside in cruel manner and were being transported illegally.
Two persons Mohd Yaqoob, son of Jamal Din, resident of Saral, Haveli, Poonch and Irshad Ahmed, son of Khan Mohd, resident of Alchiward Hiller, Kokernag Anantnag were arrested on the spot from these vehicles. Subsequently, FIR with no. 44/2024 and 45/2024 were registered at Police Station Batote, FIR no. 74/2024 and 75/2024 at Police Station Ramban under Sections 188 IPC and under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
