Copper futures rise on global cues, spot demand

NEW DELHI, Apr 4:  Buoyed by a firm global trend and increased domestic demand, copper prices rose 0.39 per cent to Rs 407.50 per kg in futures trade today, as speculators created positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 1.60, or 0.39 per cent, to Rs 407.50 per kg in business turnover of 314 lots.
Metal for delivery in June edged up by Rs 1.25, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 411.60 per kg in 18 lots.
Globally, copper for delivery in three months rose 0.20 per cent to USD 6,656 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange. At Shanghai Futures Exchange, the metal for June delivery up 0.3 per cent to 46,470 yuan (USD 7,478) a tonne.
Analysts said apart from increased demand from consuming industries, a firming overseas trend, mainly influenced copper prices at futures trade here. (PTI)
