JAMMU, Aug 19: A police cop posted at Sunderbani Police Station died in a road accident at Tanda Morh area of Akhnoor on Monday.
Head Constable Narinder Singh son of Swami Raj of Doda at present Jammu was on way to his duty in a passenger bus when the incident happened near Tanda Morh area, a police official said.
According to him, the cop sustained serious injuries after falling from the moving bus while trying to prevent a passenger bag from slipping off the bus during negotiation of a curve.
He was taken to a healthcare facility in Jammu, where after preliminary treatment, he was taken to DMC Ludhiana, where the police cop breathed his last, the police official said.
He said the body of the deceased Head Constable has been handed over to his family members after performing the medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, a case FIR number 144/2025 under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation taken up.
