SRINAGAR, Apr 3: Militants today fired at a police party at Murran Chowk in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district injuring one cop.
A police party that was constituted to apprehend the burglars who made an abortive bid to take away money from State Bank of India ATM in Murran Chowk last night was investigating the case when militants fired at them.
As the Station House Officer and others reached the Murran Chowk and were taking finger prints at the ATM, militants fired resulting in injuries to one of the police man. The fire was retaliated by the party. However, militants fled away.
The injured cop identified as Head Constable, Mohammad Shafi, was taken to nearby hospital where from he was referred to Bone and Joint hospital, Srinagar for treatment.
Soon after the incident, Army, police and CRPF cordoned off the area and its adjoining villages and have launched hunt to nab the assailants. No one has been arrested when reports last came in while searches in the area was going on.
