JAMMU, Apr 2: A delegation of Contractors Co-ordination Committee (CCC) called on Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana and apprised him of issues related to the release of pending payments under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
During meeting with the Minister, the delegation revealed that contractors across the Union Territory are experiencing delays in the settlement of work bills. They sought Minister’s intervention for early signing of the reform-linked MoU and timely release of funds so that pending liabilities are cleared and execution of vital public works continues smoothly.
They pointed out that despite several representations to the concerned senior officers, the JJM payments work crores have remained pending. The contracts have taken bank loans and they are facing lot of hardships.
A few other delegations from Samba and Reasi also met the Minister and projected their issues and demands pertaining to their respective areas and sectors.
The delegation also demanded construction of bunds for protection of agricultural land and infrastructure, along with construction of proper drainage systems to address water-logging and sanitation concerns.
Similarly, another delegation sought release of pending wages with the PHE Division Kishtwar and sought early release of the same.
Another delegations raised various individual service matters pertaining to their respective departments and sought timely redressal.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the delegations and assured them that all genuine issues would be examined on priority. He directed the concerned authorities to look into the matters and take necessary action for their timely resolution. While reiterating the government’s commitment towards public welfare, the Rana emphasized that focused efforts are being made to address grassroots issues and improve basic infrastructure.
