JAMMU, July 2: In view of the prevailing conditions in Kashmir Valley which are hostile to return of displaced Pandits to their original places, Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) today strongly advocated for establishment of smart cities in Kashmir Valley on the concept and pattern of smart cities announced by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for entire nation so that honourable and dignified rehabilitation and settlement of the hapless community leading an exiled life outside Valley for last 27 years can be guaranteed .
The demand was made at a press conference here, today by the members of the Advisory Board of YAIKS including Shuban Krishan Koul, Dwarikanath Bhat, Mohan Lal Pandita, S D Koul, Kanya Lal Bhat, Pushkar Nath Pandita, Bushan Lal Bhat and Omkar Nath Dhar.
They said that those who demand the settlement of Pandits in their original inhabitations are in real sense trying to sabotage the return of Pandits to Valley and they are not well versed with ground situation in Kashmir as well as the main causes of Pandits displacement from there.
They said the community is left with no alternative but to demand its settlement in consolidated places in the form of smart cities. This sort of return is the only way to protect and make secure the future generations of the community as well as well as its proper political empowerment.
The YAIKS leaders also wanted to know the blue print of the so called composite township and asked the GoI to make it known to the community that with whom it has decided the return formula and why it has been kept hidden secret? The YAIKS warned that it will not allow any one to use Pandits for their political gains. They expressed apprehension that return is linked to withdrawal of AFSPA and in this regard YAIKS will hold interaction with cross section of community by organizing seminars, public meetings, door to door campaigning etc.
The YAIKS leaders said in the event of resurfacing of militancy in Valley no decision be taken in haste and community should not accept the transit accommodations again. Almost two generations have perished in these transit accommodations in Jammu and Valley and now Government wants to finish next three generation in the same way which will not be allowed.
The YAIKS said that under these circumstances nothing except smart cities will be acceptable to the community.
