Constable arrested on charges of abduction, sexual assault

SRINAGAR, Apr 12: Police today arrested a constable in Central Kashmir district of Budgam after a lady constable charged him of abduction and sexual assault.
The Superintendent of Police Budgam, Uttam Chand said that police have arrested the constable after a woman constable levelled allegations against him. He, however, said that police are investigating the case as duo had an affair.
The lady constable who hails from a village in Budgam district has alleged that she was abducted by constable Farooq Ahmad Mir of Kupwara district and Special Police Officer (SPO), Rabinder Singh from Budgam bus stand while she was on her way to Udhampore in Jammu for training.
She has alleged that the duo forcibly boarded her in a car and took her to Jammu where she was sexually assaulted in a hotel for 4 days. A case has been registered in Police Station Budgam and police arrested Farooq and are conducting the investigations. The hunt for SPO is going on. The lady constable has been sent for medical examination.
Farooq is already married and has reportedly four children. He has, however, produced a marriage certificate to the police and claims that he is married to the lady constable.
