Srinagar, May 19: Police in North Kashmir’s Handwara area have seized a consignment of ice cream after finding it to have expired.
It has been learned that it all came to the fore after a verbal exchange was overheard by some locals on the arrival of delivery in the Audoora, Mawar area.
The locals said that the stockist objected to receipt of the delivery, and even called the dealer to take back the consignment. However, they said, the Baramulla-based dealer kept pursuing him to keep the consignment.
They said that the dealer had deliberately kept two boxes with fresh dates hoodwink the intended stockist.
Soon after the local police were informed about it, the vehicle bearing Registration Number JK-05E 2179 was seized, its driver arrested. “The consignment was also seized on the spot,” they said.
