SRINAGAR, Aug 1: The Committee on Estimates (EC) of Legislative Assembly, which held its meeting here today under the chairmanship of MLA Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan, stressed upon officers of Public Works Department (PWD) to gear up their field functionaries for identifying the hamlets which are not covered under road network so far and asked them to formulate Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) and submit to the concerned quarters for early execution.
Legislators, Dr Mustafa Kamal, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, Abdul Gaffar Sofi, Mohammad Sharif Niaz, A. R. Veeri, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Naresh Kumar Gupta and Mohammad Ashraf Mir gave their valuable suggestions for the improvement of the PWD and suggested for involvement of legislators while formulating any project.
Threadbare discussion was held on various schemes and projects under execution in ERA, PMGSY and other Centrally Sponsored Schemes. The panel directed the concerned to speed up the pace of work on all ongoing developmental works including Syedpora Bridge, Dr Ali Jan Road, Naseem Bagh-Buchpora Road, Dalgate-Habbak Mirak Shah Road and complete them in a stipulated time frame.
The Committee stressed for maintaining close coordination with the other concerned departments so that the projects which require forest clearance and land compensation for acquisition purpose may be cleared on the priority. It also directed them to engage committed and honest lawyer to vacate the pending court cases, if any. The Legislators also stressed for clearance of liabilities under NABARD.
Among others, Special Secretary PWD, Anil Gupta, Director General Accounts and Treasuries Wali Mohammad Bhat, Director (U) Economic Reconstruction Agency Vinod Sharma, Director (C) ERA, Khalid Muzaffar, Chief Engineer R&B Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmed Lone, Managing Director JKPCC, M. M. Gupta, Chief Engineer PMGSY Jammu D. L. Sharma, Chief Engineer PMGSY Kashmir, A. H. Sheikh, Chief Engineer MED Kashmir. S. A. Chishti and other senior officers of Assembly Secretariat attended the meeting.
