Congress unnecessarily targeting External Affairs Minister: Brig Gupta

JAMMU, May 22: Brig Anil Gupta, security & strategic analyst and spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party today rejected the charges leveled by Congress party against External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
In a statement issued, Brig Gupta terms the charges as baseless and mischievous with malafide intention.
He said, “It is a well-established protocol to inform the adversary when counter terror operations are undertaken on his soil to prevent unwanted escalation. Similar protocol was followed by USA when Osama Bin Laden was killed and by India after the Balakot strikes. Even Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, DGMO stated in his briefing that in the immediate wake of Op Sindoor Pakistan DGMO was contacted to explain that the strikes were against terror network and not against military or civilian targets.”
Gupta said, “The Government of India’s message was aimed to de-escalate by clarifying the limited scope, avoiding broader military conflict in accordance with the aims and objectives of Operation Sindoor. However, Congress as usual tried to politicise the sensitive matter of national security based on misinterpretation of the statement of EAM Jaishankar.”
Reacting to terming Jaishankar “Gaddar” by Pawan Khera, Brig Gupta said, “The whole nation knows that which party does not believe in Nation First and has compromised national security by hobnobbing with the Chinese at the peak of Dokalam Crisis as well as the statements of their leaders being quoted by Pakistan while presenting its case at the UNSC undermining national security.”
“At this hour of national crisis when unity was the need of the hour, Congress leaders through their allegations and loud-mouth statements have proved that in their greed to grab power they can go to any limits even if they are detrimental to national interests,” he asserted.
