KATHUA, Mar 19: Holding over one dozen road-shows and election meetings today in the interior villages of Lokli, Badoli, Nouni, Saida, Kadetar, Parangoli, Mangloor, Dabi, Pranjali, Sallan, Banuchak and Tandari in Billawar-Kandi block here today, BJP candidate for Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh accused the Congress led UPA Government of having scuttled the nation-friendly schemes like “Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana” (PMGSY) initiated during the NDA regime headed by Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
As an instance, he cited the example of these villages which are hardly a few kilometers away from the National Highway but the construction of roads undertaken under PMGSY has gone so slow that it is virtually in a standstill.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the plan and survey of most of these roads is already in place and all that is required is a sincere follow-up with the Union Government by the Member of Parliament representing the area but unfortunately this is lacking. He promised to get the road work expedited and completed at the earliest if BJP is voted from this constituency.
Dr Singh said, what could be more shameful than the fact that even after 66 years of independence, this area which is a gateway to J&K remains deprived of the basic amenities like water and electricity available in neighbouring Punjab.
Pledging to liberate the Indian democracy from the clutches of corruption, mis- governance and dynasty rule, he said, unlike other political parties, BJP is the only political party which is going to the polls with an appeal for “Vote for India”. BJP is a cadre based party which follows the principle of “Nation First, Party Second and Self Last”, he added.
Among others, BJP Kathua district president, Advocate Vijay Sharma and State Morcha convenor, Satish Sharma also addressed the meetings.
