JAMMU, Jan 12: Senior Congress leader, Dr. Manohar Lal Sharma today paid tribute to Shaheed Mangal Singh son of Dharam Singh at his home place in village Ladoli, panchayat Mangloor east.
Mangal Singh sacrificed his life while fighting terrorist at Shah Post in Poonch in the year 2002.
Dr. Sharma said that Mangal Singh is a role model for many youths of the area and he set true example of honesty, dedication and love for the country by sacrificing his life.
He further said for a nation should never forget its martyrs and war veterans and it’s our duty to remember our heroes.
The Congress leader said that families of martyrs didn’t get adequate help and financial aid from J&K Government as compared to the compensation provided by other States of the country and requested J&K LG to provide adequate compensation and ex-gratia to families of martyrs.
Others present on the occasion were Subhash Gupta, ex-MLC; Capt. Gian Singh Pathania, Dharam Singh and others.
