UDHAMPUR, Sept 2: District Congress working president Sumeet Magotra today visited several rain-affected villages, including Pathi and Mansar Sorpa, where he interacted with residents and took stock of the devastation caused by heavy rains and landslides.
Magotra said many families have lost their homes and are forced to live under extremely harsh conditions. “Several houses have been damaged, leaving people homeless and struggling to survive,” he noted, while expressing solidarity with the affected population.
He informed that a Congress team also attempted to reach Pathi village, where dozens of houses have reportedly been completely buried under debris. However, they were unable to reach the site as access roads were blocked by huge boulders, fallen trees, and landslides at multiple stretches.
Terming the situation “extremely serious,” Magotra appealed to the administration to immediately intensify relief and rescue operations. He stressed the need for setting up temporary shelters, ensuring supply of essential facilities, and extending timely Government support to the victims.
“At this moment, people need not just financial or material aid but also a compassionate approach. It is our collective responsibility to stand with our brothers and sisters in this crisis,” Magotra said.
