SAMBA, Mar 31: The Congress party has expressed concern over the increasing number of deaths due to the use of intoxicant ‘Chita’.
In a press conference at Vijaypur today, Babal Gupta, working president of District Congress Party Samba said a teenager is dying daily in Samba particularly in Vijaypur and its adjoining areas due to the use of intoxicant materials.
He said that the matter was brought into the notice of Police and district Samba administration but due to certain flaws in the law, the drug peddlers get bail and Police action become meaningless as the miscreants again start drug trafficking.
Gupta urged that strict laws are required for strict action against the drug peddlers.
He said that the drug peddlers are also assaulting cops as well as personnel of other agencies.
The Congress leader urged the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Speaker of J&K Assembly to call a special Assembly session and draft a concrete policy for eradication of drug abuse from the society.
