JAMMU, May 30: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) and the J&K Youth Congress today jointly expressed outrage over BJP MLA RS Pathania’s “controversial remarks” on the Indian Air Force (IAF), staging massive protests in Jammu and demanding disciplinary action from the BJP leadership.

Led by former Minister Mula Ram and JKPCC Vice President Hari Singh Chib, the Congress protest in Jammu North saw hundreds of party workers rallying against what they described as “anti-national and treasonous” comments.
Mula Ram lauded the Air Force for its role in Operation Sindoor and condemned the MLA’s statements as an insult to national defence forces.
Hari Singh Chib said Pathania’s comments hurt the sentiments of patriotic citizens and demanded that the BJP stop politicizing military operations.
The protesters called for a case of treason to be registered against Pathania and accused the BJP of maligning the honour of the armed forces for political gain.
“Attacking the Indian Air Force is nothing short of desh-droh (treason),” the Congress leaders said, urging the BJP to come clean on the issue and take immediate disciplinary action against the MLA.
Simultaneously, the J&K Youth Congress, under the leadership of IYC Secretary Maan Singh Rathore and State President Uday Bhanu Chib, staged a protest in Jammu, burning an effigy of Pathania to denounce his remarks.
The protestors accused the BJP of hypocrisy—celebrating military achievements during campaigns while attacking the same forces for local disputes.
Youth Congress General Secretary Anirudh Sawhney later filed a complaint for registration of an FIR against Pathania.
Maan Singh said Pathania’s statement accusing the Air Force of encroachment was deeply irresponsible and an affront to soldiers guarding the nation’s borders.
“You cannot take credit for Operation Sindoor and then vilify the forces for political convenience,” he said.
Sawhney added that tearing official documents and inciting unrest was a stunt that insulted national service.
The Youth Congress concluded its protest by demanding an apology from the BJP and reiterating its unconditional support to the Indian armed forces, urging all political parties to treat national institutions with the respect they deserve.
