Karra heads DCC presidents’ meet

JAMMU, Jan 5: JKPCC president, Tariq Hameed Karra today chaired a meeting of newly appointed District presidents of Jammu and Kashmir , held here at PCC office Jammu in which the current political situation was discussed.
The meeting was attended by PCC working president, Raman Balla, I/c Hqrs Ved Mahajan, former Minister DCC president Jammu Urban Yogesh Sawhney, Neeraj Kundan ( Jammu Rural), Mir Iqbal Ahmed (Baramulla), Pankaj Dogra (Kathua), Sumeet Magotra (Udhampur), Pyare Lal Shan (Kishtwar), Ashok Sharma(Rajouri), Farooq Ahmed Bat (Anantnag), Shabnam Jan (Shopian), Umer Jaan (Pulwama), Javed Iqbal Lone (Doda), Haji Farooq Mir (Kupwara), Mohd Ishar Naik (Ramban), Dr Adil Farooq Mir (Srinagar), Ajay Salalia (Reasi), Ajaz Ahmed Sheikh (Ganderbal), Sanjeev Sharma (Samba), Adv Sheikh Farooq (Bandipur), and Abdul Rashid Lone (Kulggam).
PCC Chief congratulated the newly appointed District heads and wished them great success in their new role and expressed confident that their experience and dedication will further strengthen the organization in Jammu & Kashmir.
He disclosed that All India Congress Committee has announced 45-day national agitation from January 8 to Feb.25 titled, ‘MGNREGA Bachao Sangram’ – demanding the withdrawal of the Modi Government’s VB-G RAM G Scheme and the restoration of the UPA era MGNREGA as a rights based programme. The party has also objected to the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s name from the rural employment scheme. The agitation will include `Gherao’ of State Assembly, four zonal rallies, district-level fasts and dharnas, Panchayat-level Chaupals etc.
Bhalla strongly emphasis over rejuvenating the organization at booth level and urged district presidents to get connected with the people at grass root level ensuring that people’s problems are highlighted for resolution. He also stressed for involving frontal organizations including Mahila Congress, Youth Congress, NSUI and all Cells which are an important part of Congress party.
All the District presidents ensured that they will work to strengthen the organization and reach every nook and corner of J&K with the party’s programme, and further strengthening the party in their respective districts.
