Tribute paid to India’s Ist PM

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, Nov 14: While observing the 135th birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of India, Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru today, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) announced plans to hold programmes across the JKUT to educate children about the legacy of Late Nehru.

The Congress also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government at the Centre of “systematically erasing” the contributions of those who played key role in India’s freedom movement.
The Congress leaders and workers gathered at various places across the Jammu region to pay their respects to Nehru, acknowledging his lasting contributions and visions for the nation.
The events included paying floral tribute to Nehru’s portrait and the singing of the national anthem, highlighting his values of unity, democracy, and secularism.
Celebrated nationwide as Children’s Day, Nehru’s birth anniversary honours his deep affection for children and his commitment to their education and welfare.
Speaking to reporters here, JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra said, “Those who made significant contributions to India’s struggle for Independence are systematically being erased from history.”
Accusing the BJP of removing such history from the academic curriculum, Karra said, “The Government may be moving in a different direction, but our effort will be to ensure that the sacrifices and contributions made by our leaders who gave their all for India’s unity are presented before the school children and the younger generation.”
“We will make every effort to counter the divisive politics being propagated across the country. So, we have decided to organise programmes throughout J&K to combat this trend,” Karra added.
The function was attended by senior party leaders- Tara Chand, Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan, Dr Manohar Lal, Iftikhar Ahmed, Th Hari Singh, Indu Pawar, Rajneesh Sharma, Nirmolak Singh, Y P Kundal, Ch Shah Mohd, Namrata Sharma, TS Tony and others.
JKPCC also held yet another function at Srinagar Party office to celebrate the birth anniversary of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru. Former PCC president and MLA Peerzada Mohd Sayeed presided over the function and highlighted the selfless services and achievement of Pt Nehru towards the Nation.
The party leaders paid floral tribute to Pt JL Nehru and described him as a man of development and progress, who will continue to be remembered for his great achievements and endeavours to build the Nation after attaining freedom from British foreign rule.
The leaders highlighted the selfless services of Late Nehru saying that he worked very hard to empower all Indians equally. People will appreciate his five-year reconstruction plan, which ensured equitable development and progress in every sector.
