JAMMU, Apr 25: Congress took out a candle-light march today evening in the parts of Jammu city and at all the district headquarters to express solidarity with those martyred at Pahalgam and against terrorism.
As a part of nationwide call of Congress party, senior leaders of JKPCC, DCC Jammu Urban and DCC Jammu Rural, Frontal organizations, Mahila workers and a large number of party activists took out candle-light march from Shaheedi Chowk to Raghunath Temple Chowk to express solidarity with the families of those martyred and injured at Pahalgam and against terrorism and the Pakistan.
The march started with a prayer meeting outside PCC office HQ Jammu and at the culmination point Raghunath Temple Chowk prayed for peace to martyrs and early recovery of injured.
Led by working president JKPCC Tara Chand (Former Dy CM), the march was also attended by Thakur Balwan Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan, Rajnish Sharma, DCC presidents Jammu Urban & Rural Th Manmohan Singh & Th. Hari Singh Chib, Th. Balbir Singh, Kanta Bhan, TS Tony, Narinder Sharma, Namrata Sharma, Satish Sharma, Suresh Dogra, Zahida Khan,Thomas Khokhar Dwarka Choudhary, Neeraj Gupta, Vijay Sharma (Seva Dal), Ch. Hussain Ali Waffa (ST), HL Pandita, Gajan Singh, HS Mehta, Sanjeev Panda, Rajiv Saraf, Kapil Singh, Sahil Sharma, Rajvir Singh, Vijay. Kumar Shastri, HS Chib, Michael Wazir, Jatin Raina, Bharat Priye and many others.
The silent march joined by hundreds of Congress activists walked through Residency Road, Denis Gate and culminated at Raghunath Mandir Chowk where former DyCM Tara Chand told reporters that peaceful march all over the country in all states and districts level were held by the Congress party as per decision of Congress Working Committee to express solidarity with the martyrs and to send a strong and united message against terrorism. He said that nation is together at this juncture and our leadership has send out a message that Congress party is with the Govt and the security forces to deal with the situation. He said that people of all religion caste creed and color have unitedly came out against this gruesome incident.
Similar marches were held at all district level of Jammu Province. At Rajouri march was led by Shabir Ahmed Khan, at Samba DCC chief Sanjeev Sharma, at Kathua Pankaj Dogra, Udhampur by Vinod Khajuria, at Reasi by BS Jamwal, at Doda Sheikh Mujeeb, at Kishtwar by Asif Naqeeb and at Ramban by Khalid Wani.
