SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Oct 31: J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today recollected the supreme sacrifices and selfless services of Indira Gandhi towards the Nation, saluting her bravery, political wisdom and leadership qualities.
JKPCC also paid rich tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary, terming him a man of integrity.
JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra alongwith CLP Leader and AICC general secretary GA Mir and other senior leaders paid floral tribute to Indira Gandhi on her 41st Martyrdom Day in a function held at Srinagar Congress headquarter in which senior Party leaders, Former Minister and District presidents from across Kashmir region and district presidents were present.
The leaders recollected the supreme sacrifices and selfless services of Indira Gandhi in Nation building, terming her a visionary and tallest leader, who gave befitting reply to the external threats and conspiracies against India with great political wisdom and courage.
Karra, who presided over the function said Indira Gandhi was a stalwart leader and best stateman, she has the honour to become first Lady Prime Minister of this great Nation (India) and played a crucial role in the inclusive development of country & championed the cause of poor, downtrodden and marginalized sections of the country.
Gandhi was a unifying force, a leader of masses, her dedication and sacrifices for the Nation shall continue to inspire generations, Karra added and said we remember with great respect the conviction, courage and political wisdom of Late. Indira Gandhi.
JKPCC chief also paid glowing tribute to Sardar Vallabh Patel on his birth anniversary, terming him a man of integrity and tallest leader of India. CLP Leader said Indira Gandhi gave her life for the Nation, she never compromised on the integrity and sovereignty of India.
Former JKPCC president Peerzada Mohd Sayeed also spoke on the occasion and paid floral tribute to Indira Gandhi.
Former Minister Taj Mohiuddin, Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Bashir Ahmad Magray, GM Saroori, Abdul Rahim Rather, Surinder Singh Channi, Nissar Ahmad Mandoo, bid Kashmiri, Mahila president Shameema Raina, Irfan Naqib, Zaffar Salati and others were also present.
Meanwhile, Congress held an impressive function at PCC office Jammu today to pay rich tribute to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Tribute were also paid to first Deputy Prime Minister & Home Minister of the country Sardar Patel on his birth anniversary today.
Several functions were organised by the Congress party in the province including at all District and Block levels to remember the two great leaders of the country today.
The main function was organised at PCC headquarters Jammu in which senior leaders of the party including PCC, DCC Jammu Urban, Blocks and Frontal wings paid floral tribute to the great leaders and remembered their services to the nation.
The function was presided over by working president Raman Bhalla and attended by senior leaders including Mula Ram, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan, Th Balbir Singh, Th Manmohan Singh, Suresh Dogra, Sanjeev Sharma (Panda), Dwarika Choudhary, Rajveer Singh, Vijay Kumar Sharma (Seva Dal), Vijayant Pathania, Virinder Manhas, Vijay Shastri, Sohit Sharma, Adarsh Sharma and others.
