JAMMU, Aug 11: Continuing the chain hunger strike for restoration of Statehood, the Udhampur Congress Committee today led the hunger strike and dharna for Statehood in Jammu which was joined by JKPCC president Tariq Hameed Karra, working president Raman Bhalla, former minister Mula Ram, chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, former MLC Ved Mahajan, Hari Singh Chib and other senior leaders at Shaheedi Chowk Jammu.
Led by PCC Coordinator for Udhampur Th Balbir Singh and accompanied by DCC president Vinod Khajuria, working president Sumit Mangotra, Ex- MLA Krishan Bhagat, Shakeel Shah and others, a large number of Congress leaders and workers of Udhampur district today held a day long dharna and hunger strike in front of party office at Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu. They raised slogans “ Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq “, restore full Statehood, Statehood is right of 1.40 cr of J&K residents etc.

Speaking to the gathering and later talking to media persons,  J&KPCC chief Tariq Hameed Karra lauded the Congress cadres in both regions of Jammu and Kashmir for coming to respective  headquarters for continuing Hunger strike every day till further instructions.
He said that Congress Party is determined to fight for restoration of Statehood which is basic right and identity, status of each of the 1.40 cr citizen of J&K.
“We are not demanding anything new except what was promised to us by the Modi Government, time to time  in six-  years and it is already overdue , which is being denied arbitrarily and undemocratically,” he added.
Raman Bhalla lashed out at the Modi Government for the betrayal of the people of Jammu and Kashmir for the past six years. He said that BJP wanted to rule by proxy and loot the resources of J&K and it deliberately downgraded the historical Dogra state.
Prominent leaders of Udhampur who participated in the hunger strike today include-  Om Prakash, Dwarka Prasher, Mulk Raj, Tirath Ram, Rakesh Khajuria, Rajesh Gupta, Gulzar Singh, Hans Raj Thakur, Hakiket Singh, Balwan Singh Thakur, Kuldeep Kumar, Vikas Khajuria, Sarpanch Sunil Sharma, Majid Hussain, Imtiyaz Ali, Riyaz Ahmed and others.
Other senior leaders who joined included- Dwarka Choudhary , Praveen Sarwar Khan,  Sanjeev Panda, Neeraj Gupta,  Vijay Shastri , Rajinder Singh Randwa, Bhivashaya Sudan, Anuradha Sharma, Pradeep Bhalla, Rakesh Sharma and others.
