SRINAGAR, June 10: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra today announced the launch of a fresh phase of the “Our State, Our Right” campaign, demanding the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here, Karra said the campaign, successfully conducted across ten districts of Jammu, will now begin in the Kashmir region from next week.

He said a detailed calendar of events has been prepared and shared with district presidents and senior party members. “This is our state and our right. No one is doing us a favour by restoring statehood-it is our constitutional entitlement,” he said.
Karra also criticised the Government’s silence over the recent terror attack in Pahalgam. “It has been a long time, and yet the Government has failed to name or bring the culprits to justice. There is complete silence from the authorities,” he said.
Referring to recent cross-border shelling in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu, which resulted in several civilian deaths, Karra accused the Prime Minister of neglecting the region. “No senior national leader visited the bereaved families except Rahul Gandhi. Even the financial relief announced by the PM is inadequate for the scale of the losses,” he said.
Karra also linked the situation in Kashmir and Manipur with what he termed as “monumental failures” of the BJP-led Government. He criticised the Centre’s foreign policy moves, pointing to Saudi Arabia’s recent suspension of visas for Indian citizens as signs of diplomatic isolation.
The Congress leader accused the BJP of eroding democratic institutions and running the country in an autocratic manner. “We are witnessing the collapse of democratic norms, growing corruption, and deepening communal divides,” he said.
Karra demanded that the BJP clarify its position on the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. “If every other party supports it, why is the BJP silent?” he asked.
